GFGS Community Calendar: March 2015

As a service to our regular readers and the Celiac community at large, Gluten Free Garden State has started an ongoing list of upcoming events of interest. We will feature local happenings, as well as national events open to the public. The calendar will appear on the second Sunday of each month. Links will be posted to Facebook and Twitter using the hashtages #2ndSundaySked and #savetheceliacdate.

Featured events

TODAY: 10th Annual Celiac Education Day at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), 8:15 am-2 pm. Free program includes complimentary parking, breakfast and lunch, samples of gluten-free products and a vendor fair. Attendees choose one of three educational sessions. Tuesday, March 24: 10th Annual Paul Taylor Dance Company Celiac Disease Center Fundraiser, David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, Columbus Avenue and 63rd Street, New York City. A gluten-free meal is provided at 5:45 p.m., followed by the performance at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $350 or $128, depending on seating. Members of NYC Celiac Meetup enjoy special pricing at $38. Monday, May 18: Summertime Gluten Free Cooking with the Experts! class with Charlotte Ann Albertson's Cooking School. In this one-night session, 6:30-9 p.m. at Madsen Kitchen & Bath Design Center (2901 Sprinfield Rd., Broomall, Pa.), corporate chef David Grear demonstrates how to cook, eat and enjoy a gluten-free diet without skimping on flavor and freshness. Sunday, May 31: Celiac Awareness Day with NFCA & the Philadelphia Phillies, 1:35 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Tickets are $28-$38 per seat. A $12 food credit can be added for $10. A dedicated gluten-free concession stand will be operating on the 200 level. National Foundation for Celiac Awareness staff will provide informational materials and a raffles. It offers free samples of gluten-free, allergy-friendly foods, as well as informative presentations by experts in the gluten-free community. Admission is reasonably priced.
