We’re back from a summer vacation Down South. During our
long road trip, we spotted a good number of Jersey license plates in each of
our destinations. Along the way, we ate in a number of local restaurants and discovered
some great gluten-free meals that were delicious, unique and convenient.
A three-part post highlights our favorite gluten-free finds.
Perhaps you’ll have an opportunity to try them too.

The first stop on this culinary recap is Plantation PancakeHouse on Highway 17 North. We found this gem through the Find Me Gluten Free
mobile app, and decided to fulfill our wishes for a hearty breakfast before heading
out on a river boat tour.

The banana-nut and chocolate chip varieties looked good, but
I chose pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream. They didn’t
disappoint. In fact, they were quite delicious, even earning an “Mmmm” from my
non-gluten-free dining companions.
The side of Southern-style grits, which I just couldn’t pass
up, was delicious too. The restaurant also serves omelettes, breakfast meats,
fruit, juices and other typical morning foods, as well as lunch and dinner
items.
Also worth mentioning is the excellent table service we received. Our server was attentive and kind. She even picked up crayons dropped on the floor by the young child in our dining party! The hostess was pleasant and gave every diner who entered a friendly greeting. It truly was a good example of that famous "Southern hospitality."
