GFGS Community Calendar: November 2014

As a service to our regular readers and the Celiac community at large, Gluten Free Garden State is providing an ongoing list of upcoming events of interest. We feature local happenings, as well as major national events open to the public. The calendar appears on the second Sunday of each month. In the Garden State

TODAY: 942 Summit Grand Opening, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at the artisanal shop 942 Summit Ave. in Jersey City. The brick-an-mortar store is a partnership of WHOS Gluten Free baked goods, the Tea Bar and DIY Beauty Bar. The grand opening features free tea tastings served with gluten-free goodies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and skincare demos at 11 a.m. and 3 .p.m.

Monday, Nov. 10: Holiday Meals Cooking Seminar, 7-9 p.m., at The Kitchen Guy, 25 Amity St., Little Falls. Full details are here.


Tuesday, Nov. 18: Northern New Jersey Celiac Support Group meeting, 7-9 pm, at the Dorothy B. Kraft Center, 15 Essex Road in Paramus. Dr. Benjamin Lebwohl, Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine and Epidemiology at Columbia University Medical Center will provide an update on the state of celiac disease. Cost to attend is $2 per adult; children are free. RSVP via meetup.com.


Sunday, Dec. 7: CSA (Celiac Sprue Association) Southern New Jersey Chapter #9 meeting with a cookie swap, 2 p.m. at Hope Church, 700 Cooper Rd., Voorhees. New members welcome. Visit the group's website for more information.

Near the Garden State

TODAY: The Central PA Gluten Free Expo, Noon-5 p.m., presented by Central PA Newspapers and the State College Celiac Support Group. This 2nd annual event is being held at the Penn Stater Conference Center, 215 Innovation Blvd. in State College, Pa. There are gluten-free vendors with samples, door prizes, goodie bags for the first 500 adults and educational presentations. Tickets are $5 in advance, $10 at the door. Children age 16 and under are free. There is no cost to park. Visit the event's website for ticket sales and additional information.

Saturday, Nov. 22: Food Allergy & Celiac Convention at Walt Disney World's Coronado Springs Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
